I grew up in the chicago area. south and north suburbs. Went to the University of Wisconsin to get my engineering degree which i promptly put on the shelf to become a commodity trader. After 20+ years on the floor in Chicago and New york I left the floor and moved to back to Madison. 3 years of winter was enough so in 2009,after a winter that saw temperatures hit -20 my wife and I had enough and we moved to Austin. So here I am.
Im a cook. not a chef , cook. Chef to me involves intricate presentation,exotic ingredients and all those kinds of trappings. Cook to me implies food that tastes good. And thats what I care about. Food that tastes good.

  1. In the mid 1980’s the Austin Statesman published recipe for The Pecan Street Cafe’s Coffee Cake. I have lost my copy. Can someone help me get a copy of the recipe?
